Costs:

Darwin Rheumatology is a private practice that charges above Medicare Rates. You are required to settle your account on the day of consultation.
With a valid referral, you will receive a large portion of the consultation fee back from Medicare. We can send your account off to Medicare for you, and you should receive your rebate directly in your bank account in the next 24-48 hours.

GP referrals must be renewed every 12 months from the first consultation with the specialist.

Specialist referrals need to be renewed every three months from the first consultation. These are referrals from other doctors who are not GPs.

Please keep a log of the renewal date of the referral in your diary.

An expired referral means you cannot obtain a Medicare rebate. So please ensure that you have a valid referral at your appointment.

Cancellations and rescheduling of appointments

We need at least 48-hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Consultations: 

Please arrive 15 minutes before your first appointment to complete the initial paperwork.

New patient appointments generally take around 45 minutes, during which the doctor will undertake a complete medical history and physical examination and review any pathology or radiology brought with you.
Follow-up appointments typically take 20 minutes.

What to bring:

Please bring details any the medications you are currently taking including herbal supplements and over the counter tablets.

We can access the results of any x-rays, scans, or blood tests done anywhere in the Northern Territory. If you have had any tests done outside the Northern Territory, please get a copy of the results.

Please also bring your Medicare Card.

Parking:

There is on-site parking available; however, please arrive early, allowing ample time to secure parking.
